Here I am with one concert behind me. I think that it was successful even though we were missing our principal second player and one of our regular cello players. I am never really sure if everyone is prepared enough or if everyone has even looked at their music. I feel very responsible about that even though I cannot be at home with everyone making sure they put their hours each day of practising. Then there is the issue of whether their is going to be enough money to meet payroll. With the grants mostly dried up and gone, we have to rely on gifts and ticket sales. Ticket sales are low right now. We only had 260 something at the Beethoven and Blue Jeans concert. It was spectacular even though in the last five days I not only had to make sure everything was in place for the concert, I had to switch from first violin to second violin. The Beethoven tempo was lightning fast and I was scared to death. I survived, played the majority of the notes.

Now on to October concert At St Johns. I wonder what unexpected hurdles will be encountered there.

Let's Get Started

I am approaching another season of managing the personnel work and library work for two orchestras, Plymouth Symphony and Orchestra Canton. I have decided this year that it would be advantageous for my sanity to write about this years work, the good and the bad.

Player Letters of Intent have been mailed, most of them have been returned and I am ready to go!!
